DEATH PENALTY

THE PROBLEM

What is Capital punishment?  Capital punishment is the death penalty.  It is used today and was used in ancient times to punish a variety of offenses. Even the bible advocates death for murder and other crimes like kidnapping and witchcraft.

When the word death penalty is used,  it makes yelling and screaming from both sides of extremist.  One side may say deterrence, while the other side says you  may execute an innocent man.

THE SOLUTION

The solution is to use carbon-monoxide therapy.

Carbon monoxide is administered until the subject is near death.

At this point all memory is completely erased. There is no memory of anything, speech, how to walk, toilet training, etc.

The subject will require intense supervision to learn these things over again, including how to read and write and the fundaments of math and social mores.  His true identity will never be revealed to him.

This will take about two or three years, at a cost of several hundred thousand dollars a year for the close, highly trained supervision. This cost is less than the cost of keeping someone in prison for life.

The benefits are: you have not killed anyone, you have a good, taxpaying citizen back on the street, your prisons are not crowded.

Few mention the cost of the alternative -  imprisoning a man for life. Depending on which state you check, the cost runs from $35,000 to $60,000 per year.  This is in addition to the many thousands of dollars spent on appeals and re-trials.
